Voluntary Arts Wales has initiated a growing network of public life drawing classes to support both the community and life drawing alike. They use municipal buildings and spaces that have fallen out of regular use (like libraries and churches) to host weekly sessions- advocating for arts involvement to the wider populace, regardless of background or experience.
If you are a college needing a model do get I touch and we’ll work something out. Same goes for Uni or individual artist or small art group. And if you’re thinking of becoming a model then send us a message and we’ll see what we can do 🙂
First of, hopefully, a unique series of quotes heard by our models whilst in the life room…
‘As usual, the NCTC (Neath Port Talbot College) session was dynamic and interesting. Tutor Ben Meredith strives to bring an emotive human experience to the lesson. Figurative art is Ben’s particular passion, and it shows in his energetic approach to teaching.’
And what for? For a session with the lovely group of students at Merthyr College. They are first year Art Practice Degree students and this is there second life drawing session… EVER!
It was measured drawing time, using eight bands across the paper and working with Andy’s average ‘seven and a half heads body’.
The work that this group of students produce is always stunning and this evening was no stranger to high quality work.
A week or so ago Andy and Amy made their way to Bute Building for this years session of life drawing for SAWSA. The Student Association at the Welsh School of Architecture book us each year for a few life drawing sessions and this year they were after a repeat of the previous years ‘valentines’ special with two models and a range of poses.
